220 Swift Ackley Improved

New photos at bottom of page......

Just wanted to post some photos of my progress with the 220 Swift Improved.

This is the gun on the second day of shooting. Looks pretty bad right now, but I wanted to shoot it before painting just incase a problem came up.

Notice the finish on the barrel, this is what Speedy Gonzales in Texas calls his "Spider Web Finish" Looks great. I plan on airbrushing something similar on the stock in a Green and Burnt orange pearl. GRIN!!!

This is a photo from the back of the shooting bench looking down our tunnel. It is so nice to be able to get off work, head down to the tunnel and shoot until you hearts content with no one to bother you.

The following group was shot tonight (12/10/01) while fire forming cases from standard 220 Swift to 220 Ackley Improved.

First time out, the gun shot all over the place. It was key holing 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips at 100 yards.

This load was produce with 39 grains of IMR 4064 and Sierra 52 gr HPBT, much better. Looking forward to dialing the gun in with the cases fire formed.

Thank you Speedy.

More Targets.......

Well finally got around to posting the paint job. Since the photos above were posted, the gun has had two new 6mm barrels put on it and a new paint job......
